Curtains Down, Tools Up! – volunteering in Vaour, France
Curtains Down, Tools Up! is a European Solidarity Corps volunteering opportunity in Vaour, France, focused on restoring the historic theatre of the Templar Commandery. This 12th-century building is an important cultural space where local artistic life, heritage and community action come together.
Volunteers will join an international workcamp and take part in restoration work guided by skilled professionals. The tasks include consolidating parts of the structure and facades, removing invasive plants that weaken the building, and, depending on the progress of the work, helping with light masonry, lime repointing, trail clearing and small restoration tasks around the village.
The project is also a chance to experience intercultural living, meet young people from different countries and connect with local residents. Leisure activities may include exploring the Gresigne Forest, visiting nearby medieval villages, supporting the village community cafe and organising intercultural evenings with the group.

Age of participants: 18-30
