From June 18 to 28, the Tavo Europa team took part in a 10-day international training seminar in Hammamet, Tunisia, focusing on the green economy and its potential as a tool for sustainable development and youth inclusion. The seminar, titled “Green Economy as a Lever for Sustainable Development and the Socio-Professional Inclusion of Young People with Fewer Opportunities,” brought together participants from 14 organisations across Europe and the Mediterranean region. The event was funded by the Erasmus+ programme.
The seminar responded to a growing need: to raise awareness among young people about the green economy, and to equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary to participate in the transition toward a more sustainable future. Across eight full days of intensive activity, participants explored concepts like the circular economy, sustainable entrepreneurship, renewable energy, biodiversity, and the socio-economic impact of climate change.
Interactive workshops, roundtables, field visits, and intercultural exchanges formed the core of the training. Non-formal education methods were used throughout, creating space for open discussion, peer learning, and cross-cultural collaboration. Our team also made short interviews on the public perception of the green economy, contributing to the media output of the project.
The seminar followed a highly participatory format built on four daily working sessions and activities that ranged from round tables to thee project development workshops. Some evenings were also dedicated to promote cultural interactions, such as Intercultural Evening, Organisation Fair, and some visits.
Participants also had a chance to reflect, share, and create—working toward future partnerships and cooperation in projects.
The green economy is a growing sector with real potential for inclusive growth. According to UNEP, green sectors such as sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, and resource management already account for 4.2 million jobs across Europe, with projections for millions more by 2030, particularly in the Euro-Mediterranean region.
By participating in this seminar, Tavo Europa joins a broader movement to promote ecological awareness, equip young people with relevant skills. The project also aligns with our mission to empower local youth through education, innovation, and international cooperation.
We’re grateful to AMSED and all the partner organisations for creating a learning space. Together, we move one step closer to a greener, more inclusive future.
