Vigilance against fake news and the threats it poses to democracy Project in France
July 8 - 17, 2025

TC Fake News

Location: Strasbourg, France

The project, initiated by AMSED and its partners, aims to strengthen key and transversal competencies (knowledge, soft skills, and practical skills) for over 40 young people, youth workers, NEETs, and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. The project aims to raise their awareness of fake news, freedom of expression and media and information literacy – crucial issues in an increasingly digital society – while training them to better combat disinformation and become players in the protection of democracy in their respective communities. This project is developed in response to two key observations: (1) the lack of media and information literacy among young people and society as a whole, who are constantly exposed to online information and (2) the threat that disinformation poses to democracy around the world.

The seminar takes place against a backdrop of massive use of social networks and mistrust of traditional media and public institutions, of which fake news is one manifestation. In connection with the Digital Services Act (DCA) and national measures to combat disinformation, this seminar explores the concept of fake news and its dangers, while providing keys to combating this phenomenon.

Age of participants: 18+

Accommodation and meals during the project will be free of charge. Travel expenses will be reimbursed after the project
