International Onboarding Training: “WAVE – We Are Voices of Ecology”, July 30 – August 3, 2024
As part of the “WAVE – We Are Voices of Ecology” project, 30 ambassadors from Portugal, Turkey, Romania, Belgium, and Lithuania came together to undergo international onboarding training. During this program, we gained valuable facilitation tools and methods to engage and inspire our local communities to drive meaningful change.
Through the WAVE project, we are not just raising ecological awareness—we’re fostering a movement where we teach, learn, and take action. Guided by the principles of Head, Heart, and Hands, we aim to make a lasting impact on the world around us.

Getting to know the project – what is WAVE and why should I be a part of it? Why should I join? Meeting each other, getting to know the local youth team, meeting ambassadors and getting to know expectations, rules, shared experiences and feelings towards the topic.
2024-11-22 Nature in the city
On rainy November afternoon 30 young WAVE Activists met for second event. Participants discussed the importance of trees and greenery in cities, focusing on their role in climate regulation, air purification, and psychological well-being. The conversation then shifted to the challenges posed by urbanization, such as increased asphalt and deforestation. In a creative task, participants designed their own city parks, incorporating sustainable elements like rainwater collection and solar-powered lighting.
2024-11-29 Food waste, Zero fest – what other local initiatives we know of minimal living?
Yet another Friday afternoon spent with #WAVEActivists from Lithuania. This meeting kicked off with a reflective session, participants shared feedback on past activities. This was followed by a video discussion from Zero Waste Fest 2021, titled “Išpakuota: How Our Food Waste is Destroying the Planet.” Afterward, an open space was created for participants to share their thoughts, ideas, and good practices, discussing the impact of the Zero Waste Fest in raising awareness about climate change in the public sphere. The session concluded with a look ahead to future activities, goal-setting for the next session, and personal commitments to sustainable practices to try before Christmas.
2024-12-13 Poverty and climate crisis: is there a correlation?
#WAVEActivists from Lithuania here! Although the holiday season is approaching we are here to talk about climate crisis. As holidays are associated with generosity and help, we explore the topic of poverty and climate change, is there a connection? To begin with, we watch a short film about the lives of those living near the Rykantai landfill, followed by discussions on poverty statistics and the “Hungry Planet” project. It was a thought-provoking topic, sparking reflection on how these issues shape our world and how we can take action.
2025-01-10 How do online activities, influencers, and digital practices contribute to climate change?
#WAVEActivists from Lithuania shares: In our recent session, we explored the impact of online activities, influencers, and digital practices on climate change. Participants worked in small groups to analyse social media accounts, including influencers, brands, and environmental campaigns, discussing their impact and proposing ways to improve sustainability efforts. We also explored how advertisements contribute to environmental issues and brainstormed sustainable alternatives. To close, participants reflected on their own social media habits, considering how their choices relate to promoting sustainability.
2025-03-21 Local case studies – what’s been happening around us?
In our latest workshop in Lithuania, we took a closer look at how digital habits shape our environment. Using local examples and case studies, participants explored how social media, influencers, and online ads can either support or harm sustainability. In small groups, they discussed real accounts and campaigns, shared insights, and came up with practical ideas for more climate-friendly digital choices. We wrapped up by reflecting on how our own online actions can help build a greener future.
2025-03-28 Exploring non-formal education related methods
During our March 28, 2025 workshop, we explored how non-formal education can support environmental sustainability. Using local case studies, we tried out interactive methods—including the fishbowl technique—to spark open dialogue and peer learning. Participants shared perspectives, challenged ideas, and reflected on how creative, hands-on approaches can make climate topics more engaging and accessible outside traditional classrooms.
2025-05-09 Budget, finances and climate change – is there a link between all of it?
we looked at how our financial choices—both personal and collective—can impact the climate. Through local examples and group activities, participants explored the link between budgeting, spending habits, and sustainability. We discussed how investments, everyday purchases, and public funding can either support or slow down climate action, and reflected on ways to make more climate-conscious financial decisions.

In this interactive session, we turned learning into a game! Through a fun trivia challenge, participants tested their knowledge on climate change—from facts and figures to myths and local realities. The activity sparked curiosity, teamwork, and healthy competition, all while raising awareness about the everyday choices and global issues that shape our planet’s future.
2025-05-23 Reflection on WAVE
As the WAVE local training workshops comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on everything. Through hands-on methods, local stories, and open conversations, participants built new perspectives and practical skills to drive change in their communities. WAVE wasn’t just about learning—it was about connecting, questioning, and inspiring action for a more sustainable future.
